Climate change and global warming are the problems that affect our generation the most. So far animals and plants are going extinct at increadible rates, we are destroying rainforests to fulfill our astronomical demands of soy and corn to feed our cattle. All of this results in devastating effects, such as the rise of sealevels, the melting of ice caps and extreme droughts.

There are many options to help our environment, for example geo-engineering, technological advancements and changing our eating choices. Yet why do we keep hearing about more and more cases in which it becomes clearer and clearer that climate change is not a lie?

We know that climate change is a problem that affects all of us and threatens life as we know it at the moment. Still a large nummber of people persist that deny the existance of climate change and are unwilling to change their habits to help the environment.

We have become alienated from nature. We no longer see ourselves as a part of a natural rhythm. Humans believe they are superior and because of this have the right to exploit their surroundings. Protected in our large cities, we can hardly feel the impact of climate change. All the news that we receive sounds distant, doesn't affect us. Forests burning and shortage of water are things we unlike some others don't have to face everyday. By importing our food, we lose our sense of the seasons; pinapples and avocados are available all year round and we do not realize at what cost these seemingly insignificant products come.

Nothing will change until we feel a deeper connection to nature again. Without nature we are psychologically and socially ill, in contrast to some tribal groups and eastern societies, which have a mindful peace we could only dream of, therefore the city we designed is as natural as possible; plants and parks are all over the city, encouraging people to go outside and spend time in nature. We want people to reconnect with something that they have become estranged from, to receive a new appreciation for their surroundings and upon reconnecting with nature people will act more eco-friendly and respect being part of a rhythm and not the controller of it.

Our city will include many green spaces and rooftop gardens, which will be space efficiant and nourish the inhabitants regionally and healthily, both of which result in an increased feel for environment.

Children would be able to grow up closer to nature, due to schools next to and in parks. They can spend time outside, learn about plants and help in rooftop gardens.
